Clarksville in the running for 2014 Coolest Small Town in America
Posted on:  10/30/2013  by Blog Admin

Clarksville, Virginia's only lakeside town and home to a great combination of historic sites, shopping, dining and lodging, has been nominated for the 2014 Coolest Small Town in America contest put on by Budget Travel.

Budget Travel's Coolest Small Towns 2014 contest is looking for American towns with a population under 10,000 and a certain something that no place else has: great shops, food, a unique history, a breathtaking location, peerless music scene, art galleries, or maybe something cool they haven't even thought of yet! Visitors, locals and those who just love the area are invited to write a little about Clarksville today.

According to Budget Travel's website,

"We'll gather nominations through the end of the year, then we'll review them to narrow the list to 15 finalists. We'll use your votes as a guide, but also look for diversity in geography, attractions, architecture, and more. In January, we'll post the 15 finalists and ask our audience to cast their votes. In February, we'll announce the 10 winners."

Clarksville shoppingMecklenburg County's Tourism Office is a big supporter of this this opportunity.  "We're so excited to have Clarksville nominated as one of America's Coolest Small Towns," said Justin Kerns, Tourism Coordinator.  "We're proud of all of our unique towns here, and feel that the nationwide attention that this could bring to Clarksville is outstanding for our entire area.  Potential tourists researching Clarksville will find our lakes, then our other towns, then all that each of them has to offer.  It's a win-win for all of our communities, and we encourage residents from throughout our county to step up and support this opportunity for Clarksville."
