The Commonwealth’s Attorney is responsible for representing the people of Mecklenburg County to present evidence in court against persons charged with committing crimes. Cases presented by the Commonwealth’s Attorney are tried in the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts.

The Mecklenburg County Victim/Witness Assistance Program is designed to provide support, counsel and, if necessary, referral to available community services for victims of crime. This program, located adjacent to the office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, Nora J. Miller, helps to insure that fair and compassionate treatment is given to all victims and witnesses of crime.
Your role as a witness is a very important one. The legal process is frequently long and complicated, but the Victim/Witness director is available to make sure your needs are addressed.
