How Do I... Report

A stray / missing animal, animal bite, animal neglect:
To report an animal incident, such as an animal bite, an animal missing, or an animal in distress or being neglected, call the County Offices at 434-738-6191, press “0” to speak to the operator.  She will take your report and contact an Animal Control Officer.  In the case of an emergency after 5:00 PM, weekends, and holidays, call the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office at 434-738-6171.

A street sign down / missing:
If you need to report a road/street sign down, call the E911 Communications Center’s non-emergency number at 434-738-0029 and inform the dispatcher.

If you need to report a State sign down, such as a stop sign or highway sign, call the Virginia Department of Transportation maintenance headquarters for the area where the sign is located.  If you feel that it is necessary to report after their business hours due to safety issues, call the E911 Communications Center’s non-emergency number at 434-738-0029.
