Sheriff's Office

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of 52 appointees. and 4 part-time employees.  The Sheriff's Office is responsible for providing the primary law enforcement for Mecklenburg County as well as security for the courts.

R.W. "Bobby Hawkins, Jr., Sheriff
Robert Hawkins has been Sheriff of Mecklenburg County since 2012.  He retired as a Master Trooper for the Virginia State Police after 30 years of service.  Mr. Hawkins grew up and graduated in Halifax County.  Sheriff Hawkins and his family reside in Bracey.

Tactical Team
Provides special trained officers to deal with high risk operations, i.e. search warrants, high risk warrant service, hostage situations, etc.
 
Dive Team
Provides underwater rescue and recovery services.
 
K-9 Handler
Responsible for answering calls for service for a patrol canine.
 
Project Lifesaver
If you have a family member or friend that has Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, Down syndrome, or other cognitive conditions ask about our Project Lifesaver program today.
 
TRIAD
Supports the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons (AARP) and older/retired leadership in the area.  This partnership works together to reduce the criminal victimization of senior citizens and enhances the delivery of law enforcement services to Mecklenburg County's elderly population.
 
MCSO Golf Tournament Annual Event
