Position Title – Building Inspector

Location - Boydton, Virginia

Salary - Negotiable

 

QUALIFICATIONS - The Building Inspector shall possess a valid Driver’s License and have at least three years of experience and general knowledge in at least one of the following areas: building construction; building, fire or housing inspections; plumbing, electrical or mechanical trades; or fire protection; elevator or property maintenance work. Any combination of education and experience that would confer equivalent knowledge and ability shall be deemed to satisfy this requirement. The Building Inspector shall be certified in the appropriate subject areas within eighteen months of the date of hire by Mecklenburg County.

 

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors where uncomfortable conditions may exist. The work environment includes exposure to extremes in temperature, adverse weather conditions and pollutants. The worker should be able to endure moderate physical strain to include walking and standing for extended periods of time, climbing, working from ladders and driving a motor vehicle.

 

The successful candidate shall have the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the general public.
